Homeland Security Initiatives
Overview
The UNLV Institute for Security Studies (ISS) closed on September 8, 2011. ISS demonstrated the importance of Homeland Security to our tourism economy and established cooperative relationships with the Nevada Commission on Homeland Security, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Southern Nevada Counter-Terrorism Center, and many of the security professionals of Las Vegas' tourism properties. These efforts resulted in an impressive array of products that have contributed to the safety and security of southern Nevada, including medical responder training, community information and outreach, research, DVD production, web site and training modules. The homeland security videos that were produced and are in the public domain can be viewed online.
